Choosing the Right Color For Your Walls

You’ve gone through the necessary steps. You chose a lot for your new custom home, worked with us to pinpoint a design for the house, and we’ve got it built for you, but the process isn’t over quite yet! It’s likely that one of the main reasons that you chose to go custom is that you wanted a home that truly reflects your lifestyle and permanent taste. One major step that you have to take now is deciding what colors you would like the interior walls painted! In this blog post, we’ve got a few tips to help you decide on a color. If you would like more information or are ready for a custom home in Northern Colorado, go ahead and give Classic Custom Builders a call today!

Don’t Pick the Color First

Maybe you already have an idea of what color you’re going to choose, and you want to get the walls painted right away, we highly recommend not painting right off the bat. Get your furniture and home decor inside the home first! We’ve found that it is much easier to decide on a paint color that will match the decor than it is to find items that match the color. Of course, you can repaint the wall if you decide that you don’t like it after some time, but instead of going through the hassle, really take the time to pick out a color that you feel is right.

Do Some Research

Do some digging online to help make your decision. There are multiple websites out there that will really help provide you with some inspiration. Pinterest is a great option! While you’re looking, also look at different patterns that you could use in your home to really make it pop! The walls don’t have to be one single color!

Neutrals

Now, if you’re a big fan of bright and eye-catching colors, then don’t hesitate to go for it! After all, this is your custom home so you get to do what you want with it! However, we have found that sticking with neutral colors is a pretty safe option when it comes to the colors of your walls. Really try and think through where you want the attention to go to in the rooms.

Test It Out

Don’t go all in right from the start. Get a few different colors and shades when you go paint shopping and paint an area of the wall large enough to give you a feel of how it would look were it to cover the entire walls. Let these tester spots remain there for about a week so you can see what you like best. Check the area at different times of the day so you can see how the light reflects off of it.
